Get Rid of Dark Spots on Your Skin with Licorice: Freckles, Aging, and More
73
Okay, now this isn't a home remedy, and I'm NOT a spokesperson for this company or affiliated with it in any way except "delighted customer for several years now"..... but Godiva Skincare products containing licorice root extract (called "glabridin") began to work for me in even less time than their site quoted. I noticed improvement--reduction of freckles, dark scars, and a "younger" look--within one week. I think their website says it will take two weeks before you'll begin to notice benefits. My guess is that it varies with every person's skin type and the cause of the dark spots (bruises, freckles, age spots, and so on).
The only company I've been able to find who sells products at a reasonable price, in contrast with department stores, is Godiva Skincare. They're located in the Phillipines, so remember shipping charges and time may also apply if you shop their website (http://www.godivaskincare.com/).
At first, carefully follow their routine (they usually recommend a starter kit). Once the spots are all gone, you can relax the routine a bit. Their prices are a little high compared with dime-store lotions unless you catch a sale, but the main lotion for keeping the dark spots away goes a LONG way. Here's a link to the product you'll want to keep using long-term to prevent the discoloration from recurring: (http://www.godivaskincare.com/store/product.php?productid=132&cat=7&page=1).
How to lighten your skin:
- Wash with soap, such as Godiva's "LicoWhite Transparent Soap".
- Apply an astringent (for normal to oily skin) or toner (if your skin is dry. Again, for best results use Godiva's "Licorice Skin Whitening Astringent" or "Licorice Skin Whitening Toner".
- Now, apply the whitening cream or lotion: use "Godiva LicoWhite Cream" on your face, neck and other sensitive areas, and "Godiva LicoWhite Lotion" on other body parts.
- Do this twice daily.
The thing Godiva Skincare doesn't stress enough on their site is to stay out of the sun (even on cloudy days you can get burned), and when you must go put on sunscreen with SPF80 or higher and wear a broad-brimmed hat and/or carry a dark-colored umbrella or (less practical) a parasol. Sun will make the spots come back in a hurry. I always keep sunscreen in my car for emergencies (a study showed that this doesn't hurt the effectiveness of the sunscreen).
If this works as well for you as it did for me, you will soon be Snow-White! Best of luck, and let me know how it turns out if you decide to go with this product.
