Home-Made Kitchen and Bathroom Cleaner Recipe
How It Measures Up
Why You Should Make This Cleaner
This is one of those things you wish your mother had told you about years ago: a cheap and effective cleaner for most hard surfaces in your house, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Save money and time with this easy recipe for cleanliness and sanitation for your home! Once you've tried it, you'll never be far from a squirt bottle labeled "soapy vinegar water" again. Power through those kitchen and bathroom cleaning chores in a jiffy, and you don't need to worry about pets or kids getting poisoned by the cheap, common household ingredients, either.
Cook Time
Ingredients
- 1 part White vinegar, Cheap/generic brand is fine
- 3 parts Water, Preferably hot, though cold still works well
- 1-2 drops Concentrated hand-dishwashing liquid, Enzyme-acting is best--I use Dawn brand
- 1 Squirt/spray bottle, I prefer large plant squirt bottles with adjustable-spray nozzles
- Drop 1-2 drops of concentrated dishwashing liquid (for hand-washing dishes, not dishwasher liquid) into a large spray bottle.
- Pour in the vinegar. (You may need a funnel to make this process easier.)
- Pour in the water--hot is preferable, but the solution works wonders at room temperature, also.
- Shake gently to mix the ingredients and distribute the soap throughout the liquid without forming too many bubbles.

Go Forth and Clean Better, Faster, and Safer!
Now that you have your spray bottle of cleaning liquid, take it for a test drive on that tub scum, kitchen sink lime deposits and countertops, your desk that your kids scribbled on, and even on scrubbable paint and wallpaper that is dirty. Note that with mirrors and walls you will want to rinse off this solution to prevent the dish soap from attracting dust and dirt. This solution even works great on stove-top messes--just spray, let it sit for 15 minutes or so, then wipe clean.
Tip: Make sure that, for tough messes, you allow the solution to sit awhile but make sure that it doesn't dry on. If it dried, spritz it again with a little more solution, then wipe clean immediately.
You'll be amazed at how well this works on tub scum--and just about everything else!
Important: Not for use on wood surfaces!
